"Acorn Gathering", Turkey for Pincushion or Home Decoration

Handmade by Laura Hakes, only one available.

Measures 8" wide by 8" tall.  This little Turkey sits upon a Pumpkin shaped Nest, made from our hand-dyed Velvet, wrapped with antique, handmade hemp twine.  Her body is made from hand-dyed linen. Her chest gusset, wings and tail are made from cotton fabric.  She has detail made using hand-dyed wool.  Antique Mother of Pearl Shoe Buttons were used for her eyes.  She holds an Acorn in her beak, made with an authentic acorn cap and wool.  She has been "Acorn Gathering", and has a few extra stashed, within her reach, by her Nest.

She is completely hand stitched, stuffed with wool clippings.  Her Nest is filled with crushed walnut shells, which adds great weight, and is a natural needle sharpener, should you decide to use her as a pincushion.  Stitching buddy or a decoration for your home, she is one to be had!  I kind of hate to give her up!  While I was photographing her, I was greeted by a Praying Mantis, Leaf Bug and Man-of-War Bug.  Fall is definitely in the air!

She is quite a lovely little Nesting Turkey, indeed.
